Live From The Forum is the Eagles’ third live album and it records the concerts performed at The Forum in Inglewood California that took place over three nights in September 2018, although it does feel like one complete show.

With the passing of Glenn Frey in 2016, it was wondered if boots would be hung up. But having his son, Deacon Frey fill his dad’s spot on stage, the group are back and in their best form. With the addition to the line-up of Vince Gill, a legend long before he filled the void of Frey’s passing, with his smooth vocals and great guitar playing, the Eagles still sound as fresh as they ever did.

Live From The Forum is in two CD’s and comprises twenty six classic Eagles numbers that are performed with an explosion of superbly delivered nostalgia and musicianship. Joining the legendary Don Healey is Joe Walsh and Timothy B Schmitt who deliver vocals that belie their ages. Frey’s vocal delivery is discernibly different to his dad’s but is formidable nonetheless, and his harmony singing alongside Henley is marvellous.

With a set list that is full of Eagles classics, they follow tradition as they start the proceedings with the Steve Young penned Seven Bridges Road. But with the inclusion of Take It Easy, Take It To The Limit, a fabulous Desperado, the world renown Hotel California and Lyin’ Eyes being amongst the top tracks in a two and a half hour set, there are also hits recorded by individual members such as Henley’s The Boys Of Summer, Walsh’s Rocky Mountain Way and Gill’s Don’t Let Our Love Start Slippin’ Away to add a bonus to the whole concert.

With The Long Run closing proceedings, this was a definitive live performance of the band’s most iconic hits and beloved album tracks. With their polished harmonies and seemingly effortless playing, they have cemented their role as enduring musical icons and one of the biggest bands of all times.

But with a catalogue that already includes two previous live albums and at least three Greatest Hit’s collections, it is uncertain what Live At The Forum brings to the table. But in the midst of a pandemic that has seen many artists cancel and have to re-schedule their tours, fans have to rely upon releases such as this to experience live performances and this is certainly an album that celebrates the legacy of one of America’s best bands, all without leaving your sitting room.
