‘I’ve written with many artists and songwriters, all different types of songs, and I have to say this is up there with the best of them, Jack is a true artist and songwriter. We started kicking about melodies over the chords I was playing with a surf guitar sound and within a few hours Bada Bing was written! The dark yet playful record blends all the recognisable roughness and elegance of Jack’s voice with the grit and attitude of Miles’s guitar and vocal performance creating a fun and combustive record perfect to light the last of the summer nights.
Over the last year Jack Savoretti has taken the male singer songwriter genre in a direction entirely of his own. As he has evolved from the guitar picking troubadour that caught the attention of Hollywood’s music supervision community early on in his career to more recently the chart-topping arena selling crooner, he manages to avoid every pigeon-hole thrown in his direction. Now with his eighth album Miss Italia he continues to forge this singular path. Whilst few artists even mange to make an eighth album, even less do so in a different language and to such critical acclaim.
Miss Italia came at an important moment in Jack’s life, as his Italian father had recently passed away. Jack explains; “My father was the anchor that tied me to Italy, the connection to my roots that I felt I was at risk of losing without him. So I went back to school. I didn’t want to imitate Italian music; I wanted to make it my own, combining everything I had learned over almost twenty years of experience from working in America, England, and Italy, merging Anglo-Saxon singer-song writing with Italian to create something unique. I first had to learn to write in Italian before making my album in Italian.”
