The Australian Pink Floyd Show is undoubtedly viewed as one of the finest tribute shows of its kind and this spectacular and long running band rolled into the Royal Concert Hall last night to entertain a near capacity crowd with songs from the past. Since playing their first concert in Adelaide in 1988, this group of virtuoso musicians have performed in more than 35 countries; and have even played at David Gilmour’s 50th birthday celebration.

With their trade mark circular projection back drop screen taking up most of the stage, this nine piece band showed their professionalism and love for Pink Floyd’s music as they ran through a selection of their best known songs.

Opening with Obscured By Clouds from Pink Floyd’s 1972 album of the same name, they followed up with When You’re In. After a phenomenal Time from The Dark Side Of The Moon, other tracks from that album were given an outing. The Great Gig In The Sky, Money and Us And Them showcased just how good this band is. An amazing light show and images displayed on the screen behind augmented a stunning and note perfect Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2) which brought a sensational first set to a close.

The second set was opened with an awesome Astronomy Domine which was followed by some serious Pink Floyd fans favourites which included Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 1-V), Mother and Sorrow. The classics just kept on coming with a sublime Wish You Were Here and the crowd were on their feet for One Of These Days and main set closer Run Like Hell.

For the encore Comfortably Numb was the perfect way to round off what had been an invigorating sensory experience. As a tribute band there is no better and with their pure musicianship displayed throughout both sets, the music of Pink Floyd will never be forgotten.
