Little Mix performing their Confetti Tour at The Motorpoint Arena Nottingham on Monday 9th May 2022

The Motorpoint Arena welcomed back Little Mix for the sixth time on Monday night, and once again they did not disappoint. Delighting a packed Arena with their singing and dancing skills, the trio made their final return to the stage before going their separate ways for what they described as a hiatus.

With a huge screen surrounded by stairs, confetti canons exploded and Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall draped in neon feathers made their entrance after being lowered from the ceiling as they blasted through their mega hit, Shout Out To My Ex and encouraged crowd sing alongs from the start.

They have a locker full of brilliant songs at their disposal and more classic cuts swiftly followed with Heartbreak Anthem which saw talented dancers swarm the stage, Break Up Song and Wings which kept the captive audience in the palms of their hands.

Flames and pyrotechnics announced a costume change for a longer set which included pop favourite Women Like Me which was transformed with a rock and roll dance break, and as they showcased just how many hits they have had, Move, Happiness, and No More Sad Songs were all present and correct. Secret Love Song didn’t fail to give the crowd chills and Between Us came close to giving everyone the goose bump factor.

Another costume change saw the trio sitting on thrones surrounded by dancers as Love (Sweet Love), was followed by a Reggaeton Lento remix, Wasabi and Black Magic. With lots of excessive gyrating of the hips and hair flicking, the between song banter really entertained the crowd, who were told that Perrie and Leigh-Anne had become mothers whilst Jade had become a dog mum.

Another costume change and the huge screen displaying the word Sing, they showed off their incredible vocal range which helped Salute’s impact hit even harder. Touch and Confetti finished the main set before encore song Sweet Melody brought the whole whistle stop tour of their hits to a fabulous end.

It was a night full of pyrotechnics, synchronised dance moves, confetti spilling canons and laser lights when Little Mix came to the Motorpoint Arena last night, to showcase their latest album, LM5, before a packed crowd that screamed their heads off from the start.

The shrieks of delight started when trio New Rules took to the stage. With an average age of 19, they already had this young audience on side. With an EP destined for release later next month, the crowd were treated to 24 Hours with its delightful harmonies, Fix Somebody, Call It and their latest release, Happy Ever After You. And judging from the audience’s reaction, they have already amassed quite a following.

With several thousand under 11’s wearing glowing Bunny ears and whose excitement was hardly containable at the thrill of seeing their pop idols, the noise decibels raised the roof as Little Mix started the night with Salute. With its dramatic opening and call to arms chorus that had everybody on their feet shouting the words back at Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirwell and Perrie Edwards, they continually body popped their way through Power and the absolute banger, Woman Like Me.

With a format that saw them perform three songs and then leave the stage to a huge video screen which continually emblazoned messages of empowerment and acceptance, they relied upon very talented dancers to entertain whist they disappeared for their many raunchy costume changes.

The more sultry and sassy side of Little Mix was evident with the likes of their best song to date, Wasabi and Bounce Back which had everyone dancing before they turned the clock back to 2015 for a crowd pleasing Black Magic.

Following up with a more intimate section of the set, they floated across the audience on a separate stage, wearing shimmering gowns for the double header of The Cure and Secret Love Song, which was dedicated to the LGBT community, and for the first time the sound was perfect as they showcased their delightful harmonies.

There were screams and cheers as Wings was given an outing before the crowd erupted for a rabble rousing Shout Out To My Ex. Bringing the show to an end with more hits including Reggaeton Lento and No More Sad Songs, these mesmerising performers hit the finishing line with More Than Words and Touch, leaving this young crowd immersed in wonderful memories.

It was a packed crowd at Castle Donington that welcomed Little Mix last night after being entertained with some family friendly indie from Sheppard and a fabulous upbeat performance from Ella Eyre who showed off her amazing vocal talents with dance songs such as Gravity, If I Go and the newly released Came Here For love.

Performing as part of their open air Summer Shout Out Tour it is six years since Little Mix were the first group to win the X Factor, and five years since they released their debut album, DNA. And judging by the crowd a decent portion of their current fans may have been born shortly after their victory on live TV because it was surprising just how young this audience was. There were lots of teeny tiny Little Mix wannabees, aged four and upwards, towing parents behind them; plenty of teenage girls together with some diehard fans.

So when Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirwall, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock came onto the stage, if there had been a roof, it would have been well and truly blown off with the fans excitement levels. With a reputation for wearing very daring on stage outfits, they did not disappoint with their racing flag ensemble which was very fitting for the setting.

Opening with Power, their huge pop bangers which were well served by choreography that appeared to be exclusively hair flicked based. Things did get a little raunchier on Salute with their gyrating male backing singers, before they showed off their harmonising skills with several a capella interludes. They were sassy and confident, particularly so on one of their best received songs, Wings, as streamers filled the sky.

There were fans favourites such as Black Magic and Touch, and slower songs such as F.U. a lovely break up ballad and Secret Love Song which featured an amazing solo by Edwards. Down And Dirty hopefully went over the heads of the youngsters but was lapped up by everyone else.

This was a no frills affair, with no backing band, just the dancers and a big screen behind them which played videos of the four band members, singing and dancing in a studio. Aside from a brief flash of pyrotechnics and that streamers movement, there was little in the way of spectacle. But this is a band for many who can do no wrong and they didn’t seem to mind one bit.

Ending the show with the rousing self penned Shout Out To Your Ex, it probably left everyone in the audience hoarse, but it was a fitting finale to a fun evening that saw a near stampede in an attempt to grab just a strand of streamer to take home as a souvenir.
