Kylie Minogue performing her Tension Tour at The Motorpoint Arena Nottingham on Friday 30th May 2025.

On Friday night at the Motorpoint Arena, a musical juggernaut rolled into town and Kylie Minogue delivered her Tension Tour which was set out into five acts.
Backed by a tight band and a troupe of dancers, not to mention excellent visuals, lights and chic costumes, she kept the energy levels turned all the way up to ten for a two hour set with only an occasional moment for her and the capacity crowd, to catch a breath.
Emerging on stage on a swing as lasers shot into the crowd only to come together to form a giant neon diamond around her, she opened with her newer hit Lights Camera Action. Many of her biggest older songs were given techno remixes which kept the energy levels high and the crowd dancing. Snippets of In Your Eyes, Get Outta My Way and On A Night Like This, were all high octane, before Spinning Around had a new piano house mix that reinvented this ultimate comeback anthem.
Act ll saw her delve into her 80’s and 90’s Stock Aitken Waterman oeuvre with Better The Devil You Know, Shocked and the fabulous The Loco-Motion which saw her performing it with the same gusto as she had in 1987. Act lll saw her move to the B stage where she sang a cappella snippets of fans request like Dreams, Dance Floor Darling and Midnight Ride before a mash up of Supernova, Real Groove, Magic and Where Does The DJ Go? really delighted the crowd.
Shrouded in dry ice and bolstered by heavy propulsive drums she performed cult 1994 single Confide In Me, which she followed up with the seductive breathiness of Slow which utilised elements of The Chemical Brothers re-mix.
The final Act saw the title track of the album, Tension, given an airing and among the confetti, the dance routines and costume changes, she delivered that perfect pop moment that was worth the price of the very expensive admission alone; Sophie Ellis-Bextor and S Club 7 must rue the day that they turned down Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.
She found time for an encore that included the all singing, all dancing version of her comeback hit Padam Padam before delighting with her 2001 hit, Love At First Sight, proving that Minogue is not just a living legend, she is a very worthy Princess of Pop.
