Latest pop sensation Mimi Webb is on a UK tour to promote her debut album Amelia, and stopped off at Rock City on Monday night to thrill her huge army of fans.
After her heartbreak ballads blew up on TikTok during the pandemic, she has risen through the ranks to become something of a break out star, even earning a nomination for Best New Talent at the 2023 Brit Awards. So when it was clear that she was about to enter the stage, the crowd erupted and a sea of smart phones immediately rose from the thong and lit up the room.
Dressed in a revealing all in one body suit with fasteners protecting her modesty, she strutted across the stage for opener Ghost Of You with all the ease, arrogance and confidence of a seasoned pro. Delivering a set list that had all of her album tracks mixed with some from her 2021 EP Seven Shades Of Heartbreak as well as her debut single, Before I Go, she showcased her talents as an all round headline performer.
New songs Remind You and See You Soon saw screams of approval from the crowd. Good Without was a powerful foundation shaking ballad which was executed flawlessly, whilst the sensational Dumb Love teetered on being epic.
Showcasing her powerful and beautiful warming vocals, title track from the album, Amelia, Roles Reversed and her debut single Before I Go closed her main set before a three song encore that included her beautiful teary ballad Last Train To London which had the crowd singing every word, Red Flags with its emotive lyrics and her latest single, House On Fire, a banger which brought the set to a close.
Mimi Webb is certainly proof that social media really can make a career, and the question is will she be able to sustain it. On this performance she proved exactly why she is such a star. Is she the next big thing in pop? Don’t bet against it.
