Scissor Sisters performing their 20 Years Of Scissor Sisters Tour at The Motorpoint Arena Nottingham on Friday 16th May 2025.

Scissor Sister’s flamboyance may not have the same impact that it did on their Let’s Have A Kiki Tour in 2012, but it is obvious that the calibre of showmanship on display at the Motorpoint Arena on Friday night will never get old.

Touring to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their eponymous debut album, front man Jake Shears, bass player Babydaddy, guitarist Del Marquis were joined by drummer Randy Real and vocalists Bridget Barkan and Amber Martin, and getting the crowd in the party mood was a twerking gorilla. But in this long awaited reunion they were missing one key member, Ana Matronic who had decided not to join in the fun on this tour.

Launching into Laura they stormed through an electric set of their hits which included all of the album’s songs. They delivered a set that was abundant with hits which were performed with the theatrics of a stage show together with the energy of a gig, with Shears running around the stage without stopping for breath.

There was Better Luck, She’s My Man and Tits On The Radio before rapturous applause heralded the opening chords to Take Your Mama which had the crowd instantly dancing along. The exuberantly weird and wonderful Invisible Light was a highlight with Sir Ian McKellen taking the talking part on a big screen. Any Way Which mid set kept the party atmosphere going whilst the sweeping anthem Fire With Fire showed off a more grown up sound for the band.

The absolute bangers, Let’s Have A Kiki morphed into a mass sing along of Filthy/Gorgeous which saw the vocalists making use of both the jeep and phone box stage props, before Return To Oz finished the main set.

With his soaring falsetto, Shears ignited the crowd for their encore song I Don’t Feel Like Dancing before Music Is The Victim closed the set and had the crowd in a frenzy as his maniacal dancing encouraged his excitable fans who had been treated to a show that had started on a high and never dipped below fever pitch and was as camp as a field full of tents and on this crowd’s reaction, long may it continue.
