The Lottery Winners were back in Nottingham on Saturday night where the indie pop quartet took to the Rock City stage and delivered songs from their latest album Anxiety Replacement Therapy as well as some of their much loved original hits.

They are a bunch of unlikely looking pop stars who have been slogging away since they formed in 2008, slowly building a reputation for delivering a show full of great humour and catchy tunes and when you mix the charisma of front man Thom Rylance, with the cool sultry bass of Katie Lloyd, the pounding powerhouse of drummer Joe Singleton and guitarist Robert Lally’s technical mastery, they produce something quiet unmissable.

They kicked off their set with Worry, a funky and addictive song from their new album which immediately set the tone for the rest of the night with its infectious melody. Following up with 21, a full on party anthem that had the crowd singing along, they delivered another smash hit song The Meaning Of Life from their self titled debut album.

With Rylance being a master of stage craft, involving the crowd from the first minute to the last, they were immersed in The Lottery Winners punchy catalogue of songs. And with his witty between song banter with the frequent use of colourful language, he had the crowd hanging on his every word.

With Lloyd’s immaculate soft vocals on 85 Trips highlighting the band’s versatile vocal talents, the crowd were silenced when she dueted with Rylance for the beautiful Overthink Everything from their 2021 album, Something To Leave The House For. There was also a delicious performance of Favourite Flavour before an extended version of the anthemic Start Again brought the set to a close.

The Lottery Winners are known for their infectious melodies and vibrant stage presence, delivering songs that are important and meaningful, and on this performance they certainly did not disappoint.
