The Vamps are touring the UK to celebrate ten years and five albums of music together and on Saturday night it was as if coaches filled with school girls had got lost and somehow ended up at The Royal Concert Hall.
The Aces, a quartet from Utah whose indie sound certainly made an impression as the Ramirez sisters, McKenna Petty and Katie Henderson introduced the audience to their edgy sound. My Phone Is Trying To Kill Me effectively riled up the crowd before they delivered a standout performance of Daydream.
To screams that raised the roof, The Vamps took to the stage and opened with their much loved track Last Night, and the mass sing along had begun. After this they belted out banger after banger such as Girls On TV and Rest Your Love, which showed that the band’s energy had not diminished any, with front man Brad Simpson running around the stage, playing to the audience seamlessly as the crowd chanted the lyrics.
Performing everybody’s favourites, the set list was very nostalgic. There was their first single Can We Dance and All Night as well as their other singles such as Wild Heart, Oh Cecilia (Breaking My Heart) and Married In Vegas.
There were also some lesser known songs such as Hurricane and Lovestruck which have also stood the test of time, although some of the songs had been adapted to accommodate guitar solos from Simpson, McVey and Ball, as well as loud beats from drummer Evans on the likes of Risk It All.
They played their new single Seat At The Table, a beautiful song written about losing someone that saw phone lights on and the crowd swaying in time. The huge soaring pop number Just My Type had the crowd belting back the words and Wake Up had everyone on their feet.
A stripped back Missing You was a delight, showcasing Simpson’s excellent vocals before their energy filled set was brought to a close with Somebody To You, that saw the crowd leaving with the biggest of smiles on their faces.
