British rock band Enter Shikari toured their latest album, A Kiss For The Whole World last year and were back at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday night, to show that they really are unstoppable live.
Delivering a back catalogue that absolutely guaranteed a show full of twists, turns and total anarchy, they started with the spoken System which was delivered by front man Rou Reynolds almost in total darkness followed by Meltdown which was the first of the heavy hitters that had the crowd swaying and swirling in a heady mosh pit.
Enter Shikari have always been known for their immense and immersive light shows and Saturday night was no exception, as their impressively choreographed lightshow with lasers and perfectly timed colour changes on the big screens behind them together with a platform on which drummer Rob Rolfe dominated, and both Reynolds and guitarist Rory Clewlow used the ramp to move about the stage like men on fire.
The anthemic Live Outside came early in the set and produced a sing along from the crowd who held their arms aloft. The drum led Reso remix outro on Anaesthetist was delivered by Reynolds on top of the monitors as he shouted and growled his way through the song, before Bloodshot saw him jump into a huge illuminated water tank.
They have the ability to merge their strong political messages with their vocals and lyrics and still be a huge amount of fun, as shown with Sssnakepit and its displayed lyrics. Fans favourite Juggernauts came mid set before Stand Your Gound saw Reynolds and Clewlow launch themselves into the crowd.
There weren’t many parts of the show that could be considered slow, although Satellites offered a quieter moment as the crowd in fine voice sang along. A blistering main set closer {The Dreamer’s Hotel} was a perfect conclusion to a frenzied show, before an always anticipated Sorry You’re Not A Winner with a twist of a live rendition of a recent Pendulum remix, and A Kiss For The Whole World received a crazy reaction from an audience that was Enter Shikari’s to command.
